WBJEEM 2016 - West Bengal Joint Entrance  Examination for Engineering and Medical 2016

For the 2016-2017 academic session, the Board will conduct the Common Entrance Examination for admission to Undergraduate Courses in Medical, Dental, Engineering & Technology, Pharmacy and Archietecture in Universities, Govt Colleges and Self Financed Institutes in the State of West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria :
If after examination or admission, or during any stage there of it is found on scrutiny that an applicant is under age or otherwise ineligible, his/her application for admission will be cancelled outright even if he/she appeared in WBJEEM-2016 and secured a position in the Merit List. Permission to appear in WBJEEM -2016 or securing a rank in the Merit List on the basis of the performance in the said examination does not constitute a right/ guarantee in favour of the candidate for his/her admission to any Engg/Tech, Pharmacy, Architecture, Medical or Dental course unless he/she fulfills all applicable criteria as described below.
Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Age Restriction :
■ Engineering / Technology (other than Marine Engineering), Pharmacy and
Architecture Courses: Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age as on
31.12.2016. There is no upper age limit.
■ Marine Engineering course: Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age
as on 31.12.2016 and must not be above 25 (twenty five) years of age as on
31.07.2016.
■ Medical/Dental Courses: Candidates must be at least 17 (seventeen) years of age as
on 31.12.2016. There is no upper age limit.

WBJEEM 2016 Exam Date : 17 May 2016.

Biological Sciences 150 Marks 09:00 AM to 11:30 AM (2 Hour 15 Minutes)
Physics & Chemistry 100 Marks 12:45 PM to 02:45 PM (2 Hours)
Mathematics 100 Marks 03:30 PM to 05:30 PM (02 Hours)

Question Pattern & Marks Distribution :
  • Questions will be based on the syllabus for WBJEEM-2016.
  • The syllabus will be same as that of last year.
  • In every subject, all questions will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type, with four options against each of the questions and the answer(s) to each of the questions has to be marked on the OMR sheet.
Questions will be of three categories, divided as per following table.

Press Release Regarding WBJEEM 2016

Whereas, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB), being a statutory body, is empowered by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board Act, 2014 (West Bengal Act XIV of 2014) to conduct common entrance tests for admission in different degree level engineering, technical, pharmaceutical and medical programmes / courses in the State.

Whereas, in the calendar year 2016, the relevant Board / Council Final Examinations of Class XIIth standard in all subjects covering all streams ends on 20th April, 2016 as per the available date schedules as placed below -

  • WBCHS Examination - 15th February, 2016 to 29th February, 2016;
  • ISC - from 9th February, 201 6 to 1 st April, 2016;
  • CBSE - 2nd March, 2016 to 20th April, 2016.
and
  • Whereas, based on the last few years examination schedules, it is expected that all the weekends of the month of May, 2016 will be booked by different Central Organisations / Boards for organizing the scheduled admission examinations of different courses and programmes such as AIPMT, CLAT, JEE Advanced.

Whereas, nearly 300 educational institutions need to be engaged for conducting the WBJEEM 2016 throughout the State which may not be available in 2016 because for conducting the Assembly General Election 2016, the Distribution Centres, the Receiving Centres, EVM stacking Centres, Strong Room of polled EVM Counting Centres etc. will be held in most of such WBJEEB examination centres for a tentative period from 1st April, 2016 to 15th May, 2016.

Now, therefore, considering the above unavoidable circumstances, the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board declares to conduct the WBJEEM 2016 on 17th May, 2016 (Tuesday).

The details of pre-examination, examination and post-examination process will be intimated through the official website of the Board (wbjeeb.in) in due course of time.
